English Challenge: Mount Perception
Week 15-17 your class will be challenged to build a mountain: Mount Perception. The mountain consists of several squares that can be filled after proof of activity by each of you. You work in school and each week you have one activity as homework. Gather at least five new words from each activity. In your blog you write down a log book where you present your activities and your words. For example:

Activity: I listened to podcast x and retold it to Y. Y retold another podcast to me.My five words: cave -grotta, disgusting- avskyvärd, origin- ursprung, clogs- tofflor, interpret-tolka.

To build Mount Perception you must do activities where you listen or read. For example:
Listen
- Practise words about furniture, colours and patterns at UR: http://www.ur.se/sprk/engelska/inredning/. Write down five new words.
- Listen to a song and practise lyrics at lyricstraining.com. Write down which song you listened to and at least five words from the song.
- Listen to a podcast in English: Go to http://www.podcastsinenglish.com/. Write a short summary of the content or retell it to someone else. Write down five new words.
- Listen to news at UR: Write a short summary of the content ordiscuss it with someone else. (See it together and discuss it afterwards.) Write down at least five new words to each programme.
- Watch TV news in English. Write a summary or retell three important things from the news to someone else. You can also see it together with someone and discuss it afterwards. Write down five new words.
- Listen to news about Sweden in English at Radio Sweden. Write a short summary of the content or retell / discuss it with someone else. Write down at least five new words.
- 6 Minute English. Choose a program. Listen and collect five words that you write down. Write a short summary of the content or retell / discuss it with someone else.
Read
- Big Words is a quiz in six rounds. Write down your five words while you do the quiz.
- Test your personality. Write down the result. What kind of personality are you? Write down your five words while you do the test.
- Read an article at News in Levels. Choose level 2 or 3. Write a short summary of the content or retell / discuss it with someone else. Write down five words.
- Use an English source of information for school work in a subject other than English. Write down the name of the source and some things you found out from this source. Write down five words.
- Read a short story in English at http://storywrite.com/, perhaps The Ghost on the Hill . Write a short summary of the content or retell / discuss it with someone else. Write down five words.
- Choose a story from The Story Museum, where you can read and listen to 1001 stories from around the world. Write a short summary of the content or retell / discuss it with someone else. Write down five words.
- Read a Swedish newspaper article in English and write a short summary or retell it to someone in English. Write down five new words.

- Nordstjernan Read an English book of you own choice. Write a short summary of each chapter or retell / discuss it with someone else. Write down five words from each chapter.
You can gain extra squares when you sit down with your teacher and talk about some of the activities that you have done.
